The MARCE Has Awarded 6 New Grants

As a result of the New Research Project Request for Proposals, the MARCE has added 6 new grants to its research portfolio.

The following 2 proposals were awarded New Research Project Grants:

  1. Identifying lead antivirals to block smallpox DNA processivity and
    infectivity. Robert P. Ricciardi, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania

  2. Inhibition of poxvirus resolvase. Frederic D. Bushman, Ph.D.,
    University of Pennsylvania

The following 4 proposals were awarded Developmental Project Grants:

  1. Development of improved genetic tools and virulence gene discovery
    in Bacillus anthracis. Scott E. Stibitz, Ph.D., FDA

  2. Anthrax detection in clinical samples in 30 seconds. Chris D.
    Geddes, Ph.D., University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute

  3. Therapeutic targets of Ebola virus entry. Judith M. White, Ph.D.,
    University of Virginia

  4. Ultrasensitive detection of ricin toxin. Niel T. Constantine, Ph.D.,
    University of Maryland
